Rosatom signs MOUs with Ethiopia

19 April 2021

Rosatom on 15 April signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology. The MOUs related to education and training in the field of nuclear energy, and on the formation of a positive public opinion regarding nuclear energy in Ethiopia. The documents set out the framework for interaction in these key areas with a view to developing Ethiopia’s programme for the peaceful use of atomic energy.

In particular, specific steps are envisaged to build human resources for the Ethiopian nuclear industry. Efforts will be made to develop interaction between specialised educational institutions, including the organisation of joint short-term programs, teacher training, the development of educational and scientific literature and student exchange. The memorandum on issues of positive public opinion presupposes the preparation of events aimed at working with the public and the Ethiopian media, as well as informing the population about nuclear technologies.
