Russia’s Titan-2 said that it is building a residential town for the builders of the Kursk-II NPP. It will be located on an area of more than four hectares.

The project includes six three-story dormitories. In addition to residential buildings, the construction of a canteen, a first-aid post, a pharmacy, a store, sports grounds with outdoor exercise equipment and treadmills is envisaged.

The arrangement of underground communications and building foundations has been completed, and the construction of dormitories begun.

The residential town is designed for 2176 people. Its construction is associated with the planned increase next year in the number of specialists employed at the site. In total, about 6500 people are currently working on the construction of Kursk-II, including the employees of Titan-2, which is building the facilities for the turbine islands of units 1&2 and the evaporative cooling tower for unit 2. The town should be ready by early 2022.

Kursk-II is a replacement station for the current Kursk nuclear plant. Commissioning of the first two units with the new design VVER-TOI reactors will be synchronised with the decommissioning of the RBMK reactors at Kursk 1&2 of the operating plant.
