Nukenomics author joins NNL

15 October 2012

Ian Jackson, author of Nukenomics has joined the UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) as Business Development Manager.

Ian brings to NNL an impressive and varied track record of over 25 years in the nuclear sector, including spells as a researcher (with UKAEA), a regulator (with the Environment Agency), working in industry (with BNFL and Halcrow), as a policy advisor (at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, "Chatham House") and latterly running his own consultancy business. His experience covers delivering both projects and training in the UK and internationally and he is perhaps best known for the report he prepared for UK Government as an assessment of potential nuclear new build sites, which became known as "The Jackson Report", as well as for his 2008 book - Nukenomics: The Commercialisation of Britain's Nuclear Industry.

Announcing the news, NNL's Strategic Business Development Director, Huw Morgan, said:

"It's a great coup for NNL to attract Ian to join us, as his breadth of technical, commercial and policy knowledge is second to none in the industry. He will be an invaluable part of our team as we in NNL increasingly seek to exploit our technical capability to new customers on the international stage."

Ian Jackson added:

"I'm looking forward immensely to taking up a new challenge in NNL - a company I have long admired and respected. I strongly believe that the time is right for NNL to grasp some of the exciting international opportunities which are out there in the global nuclear industry today, and I believe I can help them to be successful in that."
