North Korea admits bomb programme

5 November 2002

North Korea said it was no longer bound by the 1994 accord. It apparently admitted it had been working on uranium enrichment when it was presented by evidence of the fact by US representatives. The admission was made in autumn, but the US said it delayed making any decision until it had conferred with Japan and South Korea. They have not decided how to deal with the bomb programme or the two unfinished LWRs being built under the 1994 accord.
