New schedule expected for OL3

4 October 2018

Finland's Teollisuuden Voima Oy has announced that commissioning tests at the Olkiluoto 3 EPR has not been progressing according to the schedule issued in June and that the Areva-Siemens consortium will provide an overall rebased schedule for the final phases of the project in December.

The OL3 plant, which started construction in 2005 under a turnkey contract was originally slated for completion in 2009, but the project has suffered various delays and court battles.

According to the schedule issued this summer, EPR was scheduled for grid connection and testing in May 2019 and commence regular electricity production in September 2019. TVO said it "cannot estimate" whether the rebaselining will influence these dates.
