Russia’s YuE Sedakov Research Institute of Measuring Systems (NIIIS), a branch of Russian Federal Nuclear Centre – All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC – VNIIEF) said on 31 March that it had received a certificate from the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Agency for the supply of equipment for an automated process control system (APCS) for the Akkuyu NPP.

NIIIS plans to start manufacturing of APCS equipment for Akkuyu NPP in the fourth quarter of this year.

Also on 31 March, Atomenergomash subsidiary, Energomashspetsstal (EMMS) began serial production of rotor parts for the Akkuyu NPP. EMMS is already manufacturing a reactor vessel shell for Akkuyu unit 3. EMMS has been supplying blanks for the Akkuyu plant since 2016. The Akkuyu NPP construction project is being implemented by Akkuyu Nuclear following an intergovernmental agreement signed between Russian and Turkey in 2010. The Akkuyu NPP, with four VVER-1200 units, is being constructed on a build-own-operate basis by Rosatom, with commissioning of the first unit planned for 2023.
