Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) has awarded Hydro-Quebec International (HQI) a $4 million contract to provide training to operators of the CANDU design NPP currently being built at Qinshan, China. 46 Chinese specialists will spend nine months at Gentilly 2 in Quebec.

It is the second training contract HQI has received from AECL, following a $10 million deal struck last November. HQI is to provide theoretical training to 230 Chinese on how to manage, operate, maintain and provide technical support for a CANDU power station.
