The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that the CH2M-WG Idaho, LLC (CWI) contract for operations management and decommissioning at the US DOE's Idaho National Laboratory in eastern Idaho has been extended for three years.

In September, DOE extended the Idaho Cleanup Project contract, originally awarded in March 2005, for three years through 30 September 2015. The anticipated dollar value of this extension is $730 million.

Under the contract extension CWI will be responsible for treatment and disposal of radioactive waste; retrieval, disposal and other remediation related to buried waste; safe management of spent nuclear fuel; disposition of nuclear materials; disposition of reactor and non-reactor nuclear facilities; environmental remediation activities; and completion of the sodium bearing waste processing.
