Russia’s JSC ESKM (ElektroSevKavMontazh) subsidiary, AK Corporation, is fulfilling a contract for the manufacture and supply heat exchanger (SPOT – Sistem Passivnovo Otvoda Tepla) equipment for units 1-4 of the Akkuyu NPP in Türkiye.
The Zeskmi plant has completed production of equipment for Akkuyu 1. The final two SPOT heat exchangers are ready for shipment. A total of 128 pieces of equipment with a total weight of 1,879 tonnes have been manufactured for unit 1 and 126 items weighing 1,787 tonnes have been shipped.
AK Corporation’s contractual obligations include the development of design and accompanying documentation, production and shipment of all SPOT elements, installation supervision and commissioning supervision. To optimise the technological process and delivery time, production is distributed across all ESKM production sites.
Each NPP unit is equipped with eight heat exchangers. Each device is 982.2 cm, 597.7 cm wide, 286/5 cm high and weighs 48 tonnes. Materials and manufacturing processes fully comply with Russian and international standards.
SPOT is designed for long-term heat dissipation from the steam generator during a loss of power in case of off-site or complete loss of feed water. The main feature of this system is its autonomy.
