The faulty rotor at unit 2 of Finland’s Olkiluoto NPP (OL2)’s generator has been replaced, Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) reported. However, electricity production at the 890 MWe OL2 will continue at a reduced power level of 735 MWe. The power is being limited to reduce the risk of rotor failure. This power restriction is expected to remain in place until the 2026 annual outage.

Electricity production at OL2 stopped on 15 April due to increased moisture detected in the turbine island’s generator. The replacement rotor is a refurbished spare part and is the last available rotor in TVO’s inventory. OL2’s regular annual outage, lasting approximately three weeks, is scheduled to begin on 25 May.
