Russian company "Incotec Cargo" has shipped 1,400t of equipment to Bangladesh for the Ruppur NPP using 10 special type 40-foot flat-rack containers. Incotec Cargo began transport of oversized equipment for Ruppur NPP in October 2015. The plant is being built by Russia under an agreement signed in November 2011. Last December, Bangladesh and Russia agreed to invest $12.65bn in the project to build two 1,200MWe units at Rooppur.
In a separate development, an order was signed in late August by the chairman of Bangladesh's National Board of Revenue and the secretary of the Internal Resources Division exempting from tax imported goods, machinery and parts for the Rooppur NPP, the Dhaka Tribune reported on13 September. The order states that the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission will be the importer and exporter of all the goods, machinery and parts for the plant. Russian subcontractor Atomstroyexport will mostly benefit from the tax exemption.
