
Russia’s JSC ENA has delivered 16 pumps of the AKA-Zh 200-200-250-K-5-T4 type 2 safety classes, quality assurance categories QA2 to units 3&4 of India’s Kudankulam NPP. The supplied pumps are part of the refrigeration system for responsible consumers, which is a critically important system for maintaining stable operation of a nuclear power plant.
JSC ENA has been supplying pumping equipment to Kudankulam NPP for more than 20 years, but this project has become special. This was the first time the company manufactured pumps of safety class 2, quality assurance category QA2 for Kudankulam, which means that the entire design and production process was strictly controlled by an authorized organisation and representatives of the customer (IKAEL) at each stage Secondly, these are the most high-performance pumps supplied to Kudankulam NPP, with a nominal flow rate of 472 m3/h.
Joint-stock company ENA was established in 1992 on the basis of the Shchelkovsky pump plant, founded in 1932. ENA is a leading Russian manufacturer of pumping equipment. The company produces a range of centrifugal pumps for industry including for NPPs and the Navy. Since 1950, the plant has specialised in the manufacture of pumps of II and III safety classes for NPPs.
