Russia’s Shchelkovo plant ENA has supplied two electric pump units for the Brest-OD-300 lead cooled fast reactor under construction at the Siberian Chemical Combine (SKhK – Sibirskovo Khimicheskovo Kombinata) in Seversk, Tomsk region. Brest is part of the pilot demonstration power complex (ODEK – Opitno Demonstratsionovo Energo-Kompleksa), being built under the Breakthrough (Proryv) project intended to demonstrate closed fuel cycle technology.

The electric pump units – AH-A-Zh 50-32-200-K-5-UHL4 (safety class 3) – will occupy a critical place in the safety system. They will be installed in the reactor building and are designed to drain bubbler tanks, which are an element of the passive accident localisation system.

ENA was created in 1992 and is the legal successor of the Shchelkovo Pump Plant, which grew out of the mechanical workshops of the Soyuzkhimmashmontazh trust in the suburbs of the city of Shchelkovo, Moscow region.
