Egyptian specialists are undergoing training at Russia’s Kursk II nuclear power plant, Atomstroyexport (ASE), part of state nuclear corporation Rosatom said last week.

The training is part of the engineering procurement and construction contract for the construction of the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt.

Specialists from the Kursk branch of ASE  have been instructing representatives of Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) about the Russian practice of building control during the construction of Kursk II.

During the first stage of training, the specialists learned about the organisation of the acceptance process and the implementation of inspections for all types of construction and installation works.

They were also taught about the main functional tasks, the work schedule, as well as the timing, stages, volumes, archiving and storage of documentation, ASE said.

“We have a very good impression of the training, and I am sure that other training courses will be equally effective,” said Fathi Mahmoud Omar Abdu, head of the Egyptian delegation, and chief of staff of the chairman of the NPPA board of directors.

“The knowledge gained is necessary for our work during the construction of the first Egyptian nuclear power plant at El-Dabaa.”

The El Dabaa nuclear plant, to be built and financed by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, will have four VVER-1200 reactors.
