EDF has awarded Spain’s Tecnatom Group a contract valued at more than £30 million for pre-service inspection services at the for Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the UK.

According to the terms of the framework contract, Tecnatom will contribute its experience in the field of Non-Destructive Testing to HPC and will contribute to the commissioning of the first new generation power plant in the UK, since Sizewell B in 1995. The scope of the contracted work focuses on the evaluation of the integrity of the critical components located in the primary and secondary circuits of the plant.
The project is scheduled for a period of five years. Tecnatom Group will provide EDF with techniques and tools of its own development, and Tecnatom's field services team will be deployed to carry out the pre-service non-destructive tests during the final stage of the construction work for both units.
