Czech power utility ČEZ and state-owned Slovak company JAVYS have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation related to solving issues of nuclear equipment longevity and reducing the volume of waste at nuclear power plants.
It specifies extensive exchange of experience and information concerning activities and projects, especially in the field of waste reduction at nuclear facilities as well as facility management and lifetime assessment. The companies will exchange technical and operational data and analyses and, where appropriate, continue to collaborate on specific projects.
"JAVYS is a company with which we have long-term cooperation within the JESS joint venture (Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska), and which has extensive experience in waste treatment and projects for assessing the condition of important equipment in nuclear power plants,” explained Bohdan Zronek, Member of the Board of Directors and Director of the ČEZ Group Nuclear Energy Division. “This builds on life management and ensuring long-term operation and so further strengthening of this cooperation is quite logical."
Pavol Štuller, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JAVYS, noted: "Assessing the state of technology is one of the most important issues that most operators are currently addressing. This is an absolutely necessary condition for the operation of nuclear power plants, on which future operation is based. And given the plans of both countries, we are happy to further expand our cooperation."
