Regulators stop Forsmark 2

31 October 2006

The Swedish Nuclear Inspectorate (SKI) has decided that the reactor Forsmark 2 may not be restarted until the operators have produced inspection data related to welding work at the reactor.

The regulators have also requested similar data concerning units 1 and 3 to be produced before the end of the year.

The issue concerns a small leakage from the containment that was recently discovered and SKI requires the minutes from the welding seam’s inspection. The welding was carried out during the overhaul at Forsmark 2 in August.

When SKI requested the minutes from the inspection of the weld they could not be found at either of the companies that were supposed to sign them.
