Shaw awarded new maintenance contract for Palo Verde

The Shaw Group Inc has signed a new contract with Arizona Public Service, Co. (APS) to provide maintenance, modifications, construction and radiological protection services to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona.

Under the contract Shaw will support three pressurized water reactors at the Palo Verde site, 55 miles west of Phoenix. The reactors, which began operation between 1986 and 1988, are capable of producing more than 4000 MW of electricity.

The new contract has a duration of three years. Shaw, which is currently providing maintenance and modification services to 44 of the 104 operating power reactors in the USA said the value of the contract had not been disclosed.
