The Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (Kedo) has agreed in principle to abandon plans to build two PWRs in North Korea. A formal accord on the matter is expected by December.
The decision came during a two day meeting in New York between representatives from the European Union, Japan, South Korea and the USA.
The move brings to an end a 1994 deal between North Korea and the USA, suspended since October 2002, under which the reactors were to have been built.
