MHI wins order for reactor coolant pumps

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received an order for four reactor coolant pumps from China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation (CNEIC).

The pumps on order will be installed in units 3 and 4 of Qinshan Phase II, owned by Nuclear Power Qinshan Joint Venture Company (NPQJVC) which will construct, operate and manage the plants.

The 650 MWe PWRs for units 3 and 4 will be constructed adjacent to the identical units 1 and 2 in Qinshan, Haiyan County of Zhejiang province, around 100km southwest of Shanghai.

The delivery of the coolant pumps, each of which has a flow rate of 24,000 m3/h and an output power of 5.2MW, is slated to begin in June 2008 and complete in February 2010. The new plants are slated to go on-stream in April 2011 and February 2012 respectively.
