Zetec launches pipe weld crawler

12 August 2014

Non-destructive examination equipment supplier Zetec has launched a manually-operated circumferential scanner for inspecting pipe welds.

It carries four probes, each with their own suspension, and is supported by four magnetic wheels, each with individual braking.

The probe height is 2 1/4" (58mm) and can be used to inspect thin welded plate and pipe; an optional frame allows inspection of welds up to 6" (152mm). The scanner can be converted into an axial weld scanner. It can be motorised, fitted with on-board cameras, and various types of phased array and time-of-flight diffraction probes, including Zetec's TOPAZ flaw detector software. Optional software is also available.
