British Energy has announced that it is to develop large-scale offshore wind power farms. It set up a joint venture with Renewable Energy Systems to bid for an offshore wind farm site, and plans to look for other renewable energy sources.
British Energy said that it is planning to produce up to 2% of its electricity from wind power by 2010. It is planning to build a project consisting of 30 turbines delivering a total of 90MWe.
