Westinghouse wins $250 million fuel fabrication contract

29 November 2000

Westinghouse Electric, now a wholly owned subsidiary of BNFL plc, has received a $250 million fuel fabrication contract from STP Nuclear Operating, operator of the South Texas Project 1 and 2 nuclear plants.

Under the contract, which is novel because of its long-term nature, Westinghouse will supply nuclear fuel to both 1250MW pressurised water reactors through the end of their operating licences. The licence for STP 1 will expire in 2027, and for STP 2 in 2028
