Virtual tour launched of Russia’s Leningrad NPP

29 April 2021

Russia’s Leningrad NPP on 27 April launched an online tour of the RBMK-1000 unit at its Sosnovy Bor NPP.

"The 3D tour is an opportunity to see the RBMK reactor, which has undergone a whole range of modernisation measures over the past 35 years. Now reactors of this type meet all modern world safety requirements," the plant said. “There is a great deal of interest in the nuclear industry. We receive over 4,000 people at the station every year. Using modern technologies, we can now show how the station works to everyone who wishes. All you need is a phone or a computer and curiosity,” said Andrei Alberti, head of the Leningrad NPP information and public relations department. Earlier, Leningrad NPP developed a similar tour of the new VVER-1200 reactor. “Now you can see and compare the equipment of reactors of different generations, and at the same time comply with the main requirement - ensuring safety, because we will not distract personnel from work,” Alberti noted.
