USEC eliminates 4500 bombs

USEC has reported to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the equivalent of over 4500 nuclear explosives have been eliminated through conversion to nuclear fuel. The $12 billion ‘Megatons to Megawatts’ programme is running 40% ahead of schedule having converted 113t highly enriched uranium between 1994 and 2000 out of the agreed 500t.
