Uranium production up

World uranium production increased 3% in 2001 to about 95.6 million pounds U3O8 (36,772tU), compared with 92.7 million pounds U3O8 (35,657tU) in 2000. Canada maintained its position as the leading uranium producer, accounting for 32.6 million pounds U3O8 (12,539tU), or around 45% of Western production.
