Ulm sells Obrigheim share

1 February 2003

The city of Ulm has sold its 2.2% share in Obrigheim for E1.38 million to EnBW, because the electricity from the plant will become more expensive than electricity in the free market.

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Protection and Reactor Safety and EnBW have agreed on 15 November, 2005, as the date by which Obrigheim should be shut down. It has therefore been decided that the plant's life will not be extended by operating it at a lower level or by interrupting operation to extend the time it takes the plant to reach 5.5TWh of production.
