UK NDA awards contracts to Amec Foster Wheeler

30 May 2016

UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has awarded two framework contracts to Amec Foster Wheeler to assist with R&D in waste management and site remediation, as well as the handling of used fuel and nuclear materials. The contracts are part of an overall package worth up to GBP12m ($17.4m) which is shared by 10 consortia, including the two led by Amec Foster Wheeler, the company said in a statement. The awards address "some of the industry's biggest" technical challenges, said Andy White, vice-president for decommissioning at Amec Foster Wheeler. Yvonne Morris, the NDA's research manager, said the NDA now has new multi-supplier contracts aligned with the agency's "key" strategic R&D themes.
