30 November 1999

A Russian-Norwegian project to build a train designed to carry spent fuel canisters should be complete by March 2000. Norwegian company Kvaerner Maritime has worked with Russian machine building companies on the $2 million contract. The train will transport spent fuel currently in poorly constructed stores in the Russian north west to Mayak in the southern Urals.
