Testing, testing

3 August 2002

Security inspectors from Spain's Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) have joined Spanish state security forces in random tests attempting to penetrate Spanish nuclear stations to evaluate their physical protection.

"All stations in Spain will soon have gone through physical security tests undertaken without prior warning," said Julio Vernet, a CSN member.

The CSN will analyse the vulnerability of nuclear stations following the tests, and propose security improvements. The results will be confidential.
