Tacis to fund radwaste facility

European Union Tacis programme grants are to fund much of the r33.3 million contract to construct a radioactive waste management facility near Chernobyl that has been signed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy (represented by Energoatom) and NUKEM Nuclear. A Brussels statement said that: “The building of this complex is part of the EU’s efforts to ensure the decommissioning of the power plant and replaced with more environmentally-friendly and safer power plants.”
