Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom announced on 14 June that, as part of international technical assistance from Sweden and Norway, it had signed a contract with the Swedish Radiation Protection Authority (SSM) and Lloyd's Register Consulting - Energy AB.

The contract envisages granting Energoatom settlement codes and licences for RiskSpectrum/RiskWatcher software for Zaporozhe nuclear plant (five new units) and updating the licences and codes already  used at the South Ukraine and Khmelnitsky nuclear plants, as well as providing technical support for these codes for three years. The SEK2.357m ($267,700) was financed through free of charge assistance from the governments of Norway and Sweden.

Energoatom Vice President Vladimir Pyshny expressed gratitude to the Swedish and Norwegian specialists for the rapid implementation of the preparatory part of the project. He also noted that since October 2017 Energoatom together with the US Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), supported by the US government, was implementing a project, "Optimisation programme for maintenance and repair based on risk-informed configuration management of nuclear power plants". He said the programme would  use the RiskSpectrum/RiskWatcher software as part of ANL’s pilot project at Zaporozhe 2.
