29 June 2001

Switzerland has resumed shipments of nuclear waste after more than a year after it had suspended sending spent fuel rods to the Sellafield reprocessing facility in the UK.

Two loads of spent nuclear fuel, consisting of a total of seven spent rods, were dispatched from the Muhleberg plant. BKW, the owner of Muhleberg, said that it plans another seven shipments of spent fuel to the UK.
