SGs installed at Chasma

The installation of the two steam generators at the Chasma nuclear power plant (Chasnupp) has been completed according to the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. This marks the ending of the main installation work at the project. Plant commissioning work has started with unit connection to the power grid now set for 1999.

Chasnupp, a 300 MWe reactor, is being supplied by the China National Nuclear Corp. It is an improved version of the Qinshan nuclear plant located near Shanghai which has been operating since 1991. The formal construction of Chasnupp started on 1 August 1993. The two steam generators, each weighing 250 t, were manufactured in Shanghai.
