MinAtom says that it is confident that it will be offered a contract to build a second unit at Iran's Bushehr site. MinAtom expects to win a $1 billion contract to build Unit 2, after the Iranian parliament has approved the plan.
MinAtom Enterprises is the main contractor for the work on Unit 1, due to be completed by 2002-2003. Construction of Unit 1 was started by Siemens, but mothballed following the Iranian revolution in 1979. A new contract with Russia was finalised in 1995.
