River Bend sets BWR refuelling outage record

30 October 2001

Entergy’s River Bend completed a 17-day refuelling outage, the shortest ever for a BWR.

River Bend is a General Electric reactor model type six. The plant has a net capacity of 936MWe. Prior to the outage, the year-to-date capacity factor was at 100%.

During the outage – which was about half the time of River Bend’s previous best – there were no lost time accidents, a reduction by nearly half in first aid cases and only two incidents that fit the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s definition of a “recordable” accident.

Randall Edington, vice president of operations at River Bend said: “This record-breaking refuelling outage is the product of commitment, dedication and teamwork by all our employees across the Entergy system.”
