RED Engineering wins F4N status

UK-based nuclear-decommissioning specialist RED Engineering has achieved Fit For Nuclear (F4N) status, enhancing its credibility as a supplier to the sector.

The F4N programme delivered by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC) – part of the national High Value Manufacturing Catapult –  helps companies win work in the civil nuclear supply chain.

RED Engineering (formerly RED Marine) provides consultancy services for those operating in the nuclear decommissioning and remediation sectors. The company is also growing its expertise in the design and development of equipment and processes for remote intervention in hazardous environments.

Joe Orrell, Managing Director, RED Engineering said:  “F4N will be an important accreditation for us as we move forward to support the UK’s nuclear-decommissioning programme."

“It adds to our credibility and will boost our profile as an industry-wide supplier, reflecting the knowledge and the capabilities customers expect from their partners.”

Orrell added that the company is seeing "strong demand" as it continues to ramp up its nuclear industry presence.

Last month a survey found that nine out of ten companies which have joined the Fit For Nuclear programme would recommend it to other manufacturers.

Around 600 UK manufacturers have now taken the initial F4N online assessment, with most receiving ongoing support from Nuclear AMRC. Completing the F4N programme typically takes 12–18 months and requires commitment and drive from senior managers.
