PWR fuel for German reactors

28 September 2001

Germany’s RWE Power has ordered Westinghouse fuel and services for the Emsland PWR in Lingen and for the Biblis PWR in Hessen.

Emsland uses 18x18 fuel bundles. The fuel will be supplied from the Västerås facility in Sweden and delivered in November 2002. Westinghouse will also perform fuel licensing engineering for the Biblis units, which use 16x16 type fuel. Fuel qualification is expected to be completed within a year.
