Private sector to be in nuclear power plan

The private sector will be allowed to participate in India's nuclear power programme, according to V K Chaturvedi, chairman and managing director of the Nuclear Power Corporation (NPC).

The NPC is gearing itself up to float a subsidiary company and is also looking at joint ventures, 51% of which may be held by the private sector before the end of 2004.
