Preventing illicit trafficking

Government representatives from Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey have attended training courses staged by the European Union's Joint Research Centre, designed to improve their performance in combating illicit trafficking of nuclear material.

Officials were instructed in several techniques, such as how to use hand-held measurement devices for detecting and measuring radioactive material.
