Entergy's fleet of nuclear stations generated 64.7TWh of electricity with an average load factor of 96% last year, the company's best ever performance. Waterford 3 achieved the best performance of its nine units, with a 101.3% load factor.

Exelon also had its best year ever for its 17 reactors, with a 94.4% average load factor in 2001. The units generated 118.8TWh, 3.8TWh more than in 2000. Six sites had record generation: Braidwood (19.2TWh), Byron (20.2TWh), La Salle (19.5TWh), Quad Cities (13.0TWh), Limerick (19.4TWh) and Clinton (7.9TWh). Exelon also said its average cost of production fell by 12% from 2000, despite increased security costs following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

PSEG Nuclear, which operates Salem 1 and 2, and Hope Creek, set a record for generation in 2001, producing 25.3TWh. The three units achieved a combined load factor of 89.2%.
