Paldiski's disposal considered

3 October 2002

The Estonian government has set up a committee to decide on the future of a Soviet-built reactor at the Paldiski naval base.

The aim of the committee is to analyse the results and suggestions of two European Commission reports suggesting ways to deal with the reactor's sarcophagus and wastes.

The reactor was a part of a nuclear submarine training facility in Paldiski town on Estonia's Baltic Sea coast.
