United Kingdom, British Energy (BE) and Scottish Power have settled out of court their legal battle over a 1990 agreement that requires the two companies to buy all the electricity produced by BE's Hunterston and Torness plants. Scottish Power and Scottish & Southern Energy claim that BE has charged too high a price since the New Electricity Trading Agreement (NETA) was introduced in England and Wales in 2001. The settlement - subject to regulatory approval - is the equivalent to the two companies paying £165/MWh for BE's output.
