Nuclear plant plan floated by Russia

30 March 2001

Russia has announced that it plans to build a floating nuclear plant at Severodvinsk, costing $109 million, and with a capacity of 60MWe.

For a long time, Russia has had a long interest in using floating plants to supply power to remote northern and eastern regions, where severe weather makes construction difficult and expensive.
