NRC to speed review process

Dale Klein, the chairman of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), has indicated that the agency should be able to review licence applications for new nuclear reactors in less than 42 months without compromising safety.

Klein told a recent news conference that he believes the process should not take almost as long to complete as plant construction, which typically takes 48 months.
