NRC approves power upgrade for Entergy

20 April 2005

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved a request by Entergy Nuclear South to increase the capacity of its Waterford plant by approximately 8%.

The NRC determined that the power hike would be safe after a number of plant components were upgraded. The power uprate at the plant, located 30 km west of New Orleans, will increase the plant’s generating capacity from approximately 1075MWe to 1143MWe.
