NRC adds 20 years to Nine Mile Point

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has renewed the operating licences of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, for an additional 20 years.

The Constellation Nuclear-owned station, located on the shores of Lake Ontario about 8km northeast of Oswego, New York, submitted its licence renewal application in May 2004.

With the renewal, the licence for Unit 1 is extended until late August 2029 while Unit 2 is licenced until late October 2046.
