No delay for Lungmen

3 September 2002

Taiwan Taiwan's fourth nuclear power plant, Lungmen, will not be delayed, despite the need to rebuild the reinforced concrete foundation, according to the Commission of National Corporations (CNC). Contractors have been required to rebuild the steel framework for the pedestal, which was found to be flawed. It is believed that Taipower has asked the contractor, New Asia Construction and Development, to rebuild the pedestal. Reconstructing the pedestal will cost the contractors an estimated $882,000.
