NIST launches tender for research reactor engineering support

6 February 2014

The US-based National Institute of Standards and Technology is seeking eligible companies to provide engineering services for the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) at its main Gaithersburg, Maryland campus.

The NCNR owns and operates a heavy water moderated nuclear test reactor and associated neutron beam research facility.

Projects range from large scale reactor system upgrades to the design and planning for new and/or improved neutron beam research instrumentation, according to NIST.

"The scope of this requirement includes both basic and advanced engineering support services. These various services must cover the broad range of engineering disciplines, including, but not limited to, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering necessary to support the NCNR," it said.

The full solicitation was issued on 4 February 2014. The reply deadline is 6 March 2014.
