New reactor for Australia

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation has applied for an operating licence for its replacement research reactor. The new unit is a 20MW pool reactor using low enriched uranium fuel.

ANSTO signed a contract with the Argentinian company INVAP and its Australian alliance partners, John Holland Construction and Engineering Pty Ltd and Evans Deakin Industries Limited for the design, construction and commissioning of the replacement reactor on 13 July 2000.
